Hi, I’m Dani, a Chicago native who’s called Tennessee home since 2018. I stepped toward the doula space after experiencing four losses of my own and being both anxiety ridden and fearful when finding out I was pregnant for a fifth time. Being considered both high risk and a woman of “advanced maternal age”, my husband and I chose the best doctor and hospital we could, which were, sadly, nearly an hour from our home. We decided a doula could bridge both the physical distance and the metaphysical between heart and soul. Our doula was such a gift and made both my pregnancy and birth such a tenderly sacred time. In her, I had a fierce advocate, loyal companion and compassionate guide. She reminded me who I was when I’d forgotten and, when my birth didn’t go to plan, she told me there was power in the choice to pivot. Her patience, personhood and presence were a balm and impacted me so deeply I vowed to one day be the same for another soon-to-be mother.
Outside the birth space, I am a poet, teacher, death doula, bereavement doula in training and workshop leader focused on movement and breath work. I am fluent in Portuguese. I love to dance, read, travel and cannot wait for Fall to finally grace us with her presence.
I am truly passionate about educating expectant mothers and families about birth, the body and the wild ride that is pregnancy. A birth story is an empowerment story and I’d love to companion you as you walk through yours.
