I was a nanny throughout college and I worked with several different families over the years. The real story of me deciding to become a doula was from the last two families I worked with over my last 2 years in college to my first year after college. I started working with them from when their children were newborns into infants and stopped once they became toddlers! That time was so special to me because I not only got to be around babies all the time but I found myself loving talking to my families about their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum and supporting them the best I knew how. I also realized I gained a lot of knowledge from my own experiences over the years working with different families and babies and that I could actually help them with questions they had and I wanted to know more and educate myself more. As well as being a nanny to them during their postpartum period, it made me realize the passion I have for birth work. I could talk about pregnancy and birth and how amazing the human body is and how powerful women are for hours. This decision felt so natural and so right and everyone close to me agreed. And I am so happy for this next chapter of life and getting to support more families to come!
