Nashville Sibling Doulas

Are you pregnant and worried about who will watch your sweet child while you are in labor? Don't worry and hire a sibling doula. They are a mix between a nanny and a birth doula and are on call 24/7 for your birth. She can watch your child at your home or at your birth location to have them involved in the birth to your level of comfort.

Nashville Sibling Doulas

You might ask yourself, "What is a sibling doula? I have not heard of that one." Have you often wondered what to do with your other children when you go into labor? Do you not have family close by? Are you new to the area? Maybe you want your child at the birth, but you need an adult to watch them.
You would want a nanny, but worry about if she was too inexperienced to answer questions about the birth. Plus, the nanny services will not come at a moments notice (like a birth doula will) and they require many fees and a long commitment.
A sibling doula is a blend of a birth doula and a nanny. She has the experience and training of both worlds. She can either be the on call person who comes to your house to watch your kids when you go into labor, the person who is at the hospital watching your kids until other family members turn up, or the one who watches kids while you labor at home. With a home birth she will take the kids in and out of the birth area as needed, feed them lunch, play with them, and more so that you and your partner can focus on the birth. She can come at a moments notice and will stay as long or as short as you need her.
Another perk is that if your plans change and you no longer need a sibling doula,  you will be given a 4 hour credit to be used for postpartum doula services. There are no refunds as you are paying for us to be on call for your birth.

1. What are your fees?

Our rates are a flat fee of $500 for a planned C-Section or natural birth and $900 for a planned induction. This covers the duration of your labor. We do asked to be replaced within 2 hours post birth if birth happens during the day. If the planned birth was a natural birth and that changes to an induction (to pitocin being administered in the hospital, for example), then an additional $40 an hour will be calculated and charged from the 12th hour of sibling doula support until the time the sibling doula is sent home Please see the contract for details.

2. Where do you watch my child?

We can watch your child at your home or at your birthing location. Our doulas will work with you to see what kind of support you want. They are also comfortable with birth and can bring your child in and out of the birth room as desired.

3. Will you watch more than one child?

Yes, we frequently have more than one child. All our doulas are moms too and are very skilled at caring for several children at once.

4. What hours do you operate?

We work 24/7. We know you can't control when your baby will be born so we are always available for you. Our sibling doulas are also birth doulas, so they are comfortable with coming at all times of the day or night.

5. What if family comes in and I don't need a sibling doula after I paid?

We have you prepay to hold you spot in our calendar.  If plans change, please let us know. If you end up not using our services after hiring us, we will give you 4 hours of postpartum doula services, but they must be used within 1 month of birth.

6. What does a sibling doula do?

We fill in the"mom role". We do everything you would normally do including help put them to sleep, feed them, run their normal routine, or involve them in your birth to your level of comfort. We come with a bag of activities to keep them be happy while in our care. We want your kids to be happy while mom labors and for mom to relax and know your kids will be well taken care of.

7. Can a sibling doula also be my birth doula?

Our aim is superior care for the family. With that goal in mind, the answer is "no". The sibling doula can't focus on your children and the birthing mom or you would not get superior care. That is why you hire a sibling doula in the first place. Let the mom focus on laboring while we lovingly care for your kids. If you want a birth doula, her fee is additional and we will be happy to provide you a birth doula and a sibling doula.
